Laser therapy
Laser therapy (LLLT) in foot and ankle surgery: Perioperative Use
Pre-surgical use
Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) may be considered in the pre-surgical management of chronic foot and ankle conditions that have not responded to standard conservative treatment. It has been used in conditions such as Plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinopathy, where evidence suggests it can reduce pain and improve function in the short to medium term.
LLLT is not a stand-alone treatment and should be used as an adjunct to established conservative therapies, including physical therapy, orthotic support, and activity modification. In appropriate patients, its use may help delay or potentially reduce the need for surgical intervention.
